GENEVE: fusillade

Dans la nuit de lundi à mardi, deux jeunes gens armés ont cambriolé la bijouterie Vacheron-Constantin, à la Place Bel-Air. L’alerte a aussitôt été donnée. Deux policiers et un passant ont été tués dans la fusillade qui s’est ensuivie et un chauffeur de taxi a été égorgé. La chasse s’est terminée au Pâquis, où un des deux cambrioleurs a été abattu, tandis que l’autre s’est rendu.

In the night between Monday and Tuesday, two young-armed persons had robbed the jeweler’s Vacheron-Constantin, on Bel-Air Square. The alarm had been immediately activated. Two police officers and a passer-by had been killed in the gunfire, which followed, and the throat of a taxi driver was slashed. The chase ended in the Pâquis, where one of the two robbers had been killed, whereas the other surrended.
